Flash Site Success

Press Release

FLASH SITES: THE DOMINATE RETAILER

Flash sites are now the preferred shopping outlet for over half the population and a successful platform for new emerging brands. MyHabit held its first ever GÖTZ Switzerland's sale and sold out within the first of a three day event.

NEW YORK, NY September 13th, 2011 – Flash sites are the exclusive malls of online shopping with a built in audience ready to shop, so when a designer brand partners with the right flash site, the results can be fantastic. Men's jewelry brand, GÖTZ Switzerland debuted on MyHabit Tuesday, September 13th, and sold out within the first day. The exposure for GÖTZ Switzerland was expected to be high, but the results exceeded the best of expectations. The sale was planned to be three days, by day two the event was officially labeled "Sold Out".

This new spotlight on GÖTZ Switzerland has already drawn an increase in interest from consumers. "We started receiving emails after the [MyHabit] sale sold out, asking where else they can buy our jewelry. Customers were impressed with the selection in our small sale and clicked over to our site to view more styles." says brand president Andy Goetz.

The GÖTZ Switzerland sale selection was a result of the extensive collaboration between the brand and the buyers from MyHabit, who personally select each item that goes on the site. Their attention to detail and understanding of their customers' taste resulted in a very personalized sale. MyHabit buyer, Alicia Liu, shares her insight on the event's success, "GÖTZ Switzerland was a great addition to our brand matrix for MyHabit. The products are unique from a jewelry perspective, but not limiting.  Both men and women were buying the collection, which contributed to an outstanding performance on our site." The sale event included link bracelets and faceted bands in tungsten and cufflinks of sterling silver set with Tigers Eye, Picasso Jasper, and Sodalite.

MyHabit was created by Amazon.com to service a high demand for better access to designer and boutique brands. For GÖTZ Switzerland it served as a dedicated introduction to an opted-in target demographic. Every MyHabit sale event provides a company bio and link, allowing curious customers to click over to the brand website, learn more about the brand and view all the collections not featured in the sale.

Over half of the population shops exclusively on flash sites and through these sites discover their new favorite brand. The partnering between MyHabit and GÖTZ Switzerland was a success that both parties hope will generate a long term customer fan base.

GÖTZ Switzerland was launched in 2008 as a luxury designer brand for the fashion conscious man that valued masculine aesthetics with unique design flourishes. It has grown and evolved further into men's accessories with a line of watches and sunglasses along with its design collections.

Conch Your Knows!

Conch is an extremely versatile shell that makes for beautiful jewelry pieces. It can come in a variety of colors but the deep pink is its most popular and well known shade. Set in silver, JewelMar’s conch grouping captures the heat of the Caribbean in the cool waves of the sea.

Are you familiar with the Conch shell? Here are a few fun facts to get you in the know!

1. The meat of the shell is second only to escargot in popularity and can be eaten raw, over a salad or cooked in a chowder or made into burgers.

2. Conch shells are occasionally used as a building material, either in place of bricks, or as bulk for landfill.

3. Conch shells can be used as wind instruments. They are prepared by cutting a hole in the spire of the shell near the apex, and then blowing into the shell as if it were a trumpet, as in blowing horn. Sometimes a mouthpiece is used, but some shell trumpets are blown without one.

4. This shell is used as an important ritual object in Hinduism. The shell or Shankha is used as a ceremonial trumpet, as part of religious practices, for example puja.

5. The most well known species is the queen conch Eustrombus gigasadult. It is usually 15–31 cm (6–12 in) in length and the maximum reported size is 35.2 cm (13.9 in).

6. Conch pearls are sometimes referred to simply as 'pink pearls'.

The JewelMar brand carries collections that exemplify and embrace the Caribbean aesthetic. Browse select items online or make an appointment to view the entire collection.

Color on the Block

Color Blocking is everywhere you turn this year and will no doubt stay around into the next. Countless runway looks have been inspired with color blocking details. Dresses, pantsuits, and dressy tops..but do you accessorize? Why not?

Here are some of our favorite color block runway looks paired with different JewelMak styles.

Texture and color blocking together creates movement in an otherwise basic ensemble. This Alberta Ferretti dress has both neutrals and bold color, which match well with JewelMak's carnelian stretch bracelets and faceted bezel earrings in 14k yellow gold.

Having fun with your colors is key. This sequined number from DKNY is already festive. For the wild child, pair it with multi colored bangles(seen above: dyed agate bangles by Jewelmak) or be bold with a statement piece like JewelMak's 8 row tiered white pearls necklace. Complimenting the dress with simple and light earrings (like these faceted pink chalcedony bezel drops) to keep the look fresh and the dress as the focal point.

Derek Lam has combined prints with color blocking into a fun piece for the office that could easily transition to evening. Accentuate the color with JewelMak's bold stretch agate bracelets or pay subtle tribute with these stackable jade rings. Go the other way and add to the mix with a statement bib necklace in sterling silver.

Color blocking does not necessarily mean bright colors. This Jil Sander dress is a prime example of how neutrals and muted tones can be just as vibrant when blocked well. Match with equally muted styles like the gray tones of Jewelmak's stretch agate bracelet or its lace agate earring. JewelMak's new stretch charm bracelets offer an elegant addition to the stackable trend.

Your accessories and jewelry can also be the color blocked subjects of your outfit. Wear your favorite jeans and basic tees with a stack of colored bangles or statement necklaces. Below, find some other color blocking styles for everyday wear:

36 inch Multi Carnelian necklace

Larimar & Rose Quartz bracelet in Sterling Silver (from JewelMar)

For the adventurous, mix and match with JewelMak's vibrant gemstone studs. Also works great if you have multiple ear piercings.

Color blocked gemstones! It's all about the details with these Crystal studs in Sterling Silver.

However you put together your color basics, remember to HAVE FUN!

JewelMak has set up a very quick survey to hear your thoughts and opinions on the show organization and also, of course, how you felt about JewelMak's place at the show.
