Flowers, Cuffs & Man Brooches - The 2014 Golden Globes

What a red carpet it was for earrings this year! We saw lots of unique and interesting takes on classic silhouettes along with a completely new red carpet trend.

Drop Me A Line... with a Drop

Large and long drop earrings were on show with Jennifer Lawrence wearing large emerald drops by Neil Lane. Too bad the dress was so bland, as if it was the sample draping right off the mannequin.

Elizabeth Moss went down the punk rock rabbit hole in a laser cut, sheer, geometric, leather, and mesh hi-low dress in black and wine. Written out, it sounds like a train wreck but it was a very interesting choice for someone that began her red carpet looks with safe(bland) and pastel choices. She paired them with gold triangular straight drop earrings by

Cate Blanchet once again being awesomely different and wearing a swirled marquis diamond earrings by Chopard. Almost giving the impression of the other red carpet trend - the earring cuff.

Cousin to the earring cuff, the new double stud from Dior was seen on Emma Watson. She only wore one in her left ear because she's campaigning to be the new Foxy Brown. So that makes her cool, obviously. She wore a designer smock by Dior over skinny black pants. Again, she's cool. Thank you for the blow to the head.

One of the new IT girls is Orphan Black actress Tatiana Maslany. She sported a 2-in-1 trend with her long drop chain ear cuffs by Jacob & Co.

Cuff the Magic Earring

The new trend on the carpet this year were cuff earrings. Normally a more casual accent, more than one lady was sporting the look. Rashida Jones and Amber Heard both went with the straight cuff illusion while Tatiana Maslany wore a flashy version of the Borg.

Sofia Vergara... and everyone else

Sofia Vergara takes the cake for crazy statement necklaces. Until recently, the mantle was held by 2009 Golden Globes Eva Mendes. Vergara eschewed her usual mermaid skirted bold colored gowns for a full skirt Zac Posen in black. (ASIDE: Just an observation, but does Zac Posen design gowns in any other materials? Also, are his seams always so obvious as well? END ASIDE) I doubt anyone really took notice of the change in gown shape when their attention could not go past the gigantic turquoise and diamond flower collar necklace by Lorraine Schwartz.

Naomi Watts, the true Tom Ford lady of the night for those that strictly adhere to the red carpet fashion laws, accessorized with a incredible chunky gold necklace that was the perfect fit for her dress. At first glass it seemed the Bvlgari gold and diamond necklace was a part of the dress.
Jessica Chastain, continuing her vintage jewelry run, sported a Bvlgari to row necklace dating back to the 1930's. She paired it with another extremely tight corseted dress, this time from Givenchy.

Man Brooches
Last but simply not least, Usher and his attempt to bring back brooches.
And he's super happy about it.
